This new complex consisted of a new 15,000± m² multi-purpose facility containing 2 ice surfaces with a seating capacity of 2400, a 25 m, 8 lane Olympic swimming pool, racquet ball and squash ball courts, community rooms and a convention center. The building was constructed using structural steel framing with compositely designed floors used for economy, fire resistance and vibration resistance. The building featured several unique architectural designs requiring innovative structural design. As structural consultants, Eastern Designers were able to meet the intent of the Architect’s design by utilizing unique and sophisticated structural analysis and design while still keeping the structural costs $0.5±M under budget.
Carleton Civic Centre
This new 6,300± m² complex consisted of an ice surface, swimming pool and community room. The building was constructed using structural steel framing with compositely designed floors used for economy, fire resistance and vibration resistance. The building featured several unique architectural designs requiring innovative structural design. Eastern Designers was able to meet the intent of the Architect’s design by utilizing unique and sophisticated structural analysis and design while still keeping the structural costs on budget.
qplex Wellness and Conference Centre
This new complex consisted of a 7,000± m² multi-purpose community facility containing an NHL sized ice surface, conference centre, childcare centre and a walking concourse. Structural design involved using a combination of aesthetically appealing hybrid glulam/steel trusses with a curved top chord, reinforced concrete and structural steel framing. The concourse area above the dressing rooms was designed using reinforced concrete construction resulting in a cleaner appearance in areas exposed to view and the bleachers were constructed using cast-in-place concrete. As structural consultants, Eastern Designers was able to meet the intent of the Architect’s design by utilizing unique and sophisticated structural analysis and design.
Centre E.& P. Sénéchal Center
This new complex consisted of a new multi-purpose facility containing a NHL ice surface with seating capacity of 1200, meeting rooms, a fitness center and a walking concourse. The design incorporated the ability to construct a second ice surface. The building was constructed using structural steel framing with compositely designed floors used for economy, fire resistance and vibration resistance as well as precast concrete bleachers. The building featured several unique architectural designs requiring innovative structural design. As structural consultants, Eastern Designers were able to meet the intent of the Architect’s design by utilizing unique and sophisticated structural analysis and design.
Abony Family Tennis Centre
The building is a 4300 m², single storey structure housing the only fixed structure six-court indoor tennis facility in Atlantic Canada. In addition to the six-court tennis hall, the facility includes a welcome entrance, wheel chair accessible shower areas, viewing area, offices and storage rooms. The pre-engineering building is structurally steel framed and supported on a reinforced concrete foundation. The facility was designed to be very energy efficient with assistance from Efficiency NB’s Start Smart Program for New Commercial Buildings. A ground source heat pump system is supplemented by waste heat from the adjacent Grant Harvey Arena.
Willie O’Ree Place
This new complex consisted of a new 11,000± m² multi-purpose facility containing 2 ice surfaces with seating capacities of 1500 and 250, meeting rooms, a fitness center, a hall of fame gallery and a walking concourse. The building was constructed using structural steel framing with compositely designed floors used for economy, fire resistance and vibration resistance as well as cast-in-place concrete bleachers. The building featured several unique architectural designs requiring innovative structural design. As structural consultants, Eastern Designers was able to meet the intent of the Architect’s design by utilizing unique and sophisticated structural analysis and design.
Grant Harvey Centre
This new complex consisted of a Preparation of construction documents and construction services for complex consisting of an 11,000± m² multi-purpose community facility containing 2 ice surfaces (NHL and Olympic sized) with seating capacities of 1500 and 500, meeting rooms, community events room, full kitchen and a 3 lane walking concourse. Structural design primarily involved structural steel framing with compositely designed floors used for economy, fire resistance and vibration resistance. In addition, the concourse area above the dressing rooms was designed using reinforced concrete construction resulting in a cleaner appearance in areas exposed to view and the bleachers were constructed using precast concrete for economy and reduced construction time. As structural consultants, Eastern Designers was able to meet the intent of the Architect’s design by utilizing unique and sophisticated structural analysis and design.
